What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a manual therapy developed in the 19th Century offering a natural, holistic approach to health care both for humans and animals and is used in the treatment of many health problems. Chiropractic care focuses on identifying the abnormal movement of the spine and the impact that these restrictions have on the functioning of the spine and the whole body. This gentle but effective whole body therapy uses specific adjustments to remove tension and restrictions in the body, restore alignment and motion in the spine and musculoskeletal system. Unlike drugs, chiropractic treats the cause of a problem not the symptoms, helping the body to restore itself to structural and physiological harmony and correct health. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to maximise mobility and optimise nervous system function allowing unrestricted exchange of information between the brain and all the organs in the body.
What is Animal Chiropractic Care?
Animal chiropractic is a well established specialist form of Chiropractic. It is possible to treat any animal but the most commonly presenting animals are horses and dogs. Animal Chiropractic is a rapidly growing profession as more and more animal owners discover the amazing benefits of treatment that allows the body to restore itself to health without the use of drugs or surgery.
Animal Chiropractic draws on a background of both Veterinary medicine and human Chiropractic and although it has some links to both professions it is a unique, recognised healthcare system in its own right. The developers of the profession took techniques and functional theories form the human chiropractic profession and merged these with the science and tradition of the Veterinary profession. Animal Chiropractic is performed by professionals who are already Vets or Chiropractors (or both) and have undergone post graduate training and examination, have full insurance and are recognised by a reputable association such as the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
